Director of Education
The Director of Education is responsible for the quality and impact of the Teacher Development Trust’s services and programmes. Weaving the strands of our work together as we scale and grow, the Director of Education will help us ensure we continue to provide a sustainable, cohesive and effective offer for schools, partners, funders and policy makers.
This includes oversight of the team that delivers the TDT Network and our training programmes, including our new suite of National Professional Qualifications.
The role is also ultimately responsible for the team who delivers high quality services relating to our school and Trust diagnostic and peer review, regional hubs and events/conferences.
The Director of Education will support the Chief Executive in setting and delivering organisational strategy and policies. Drawing on insight of educational policy and practice, they will work closely with the CEO to drive public and sector engagement, research, advocacy and campaigning work.
As a senior leader, the Director of Education will mentor and inspire a small team of direct reports whilst offering guidance and support across the organisation, demonstrating organisational values and deputising for the CEO as required. The role will also lead on ensuring TDT embeds our commitment to effective evaluation processes, to deepen our understanding of our impact.
Location: TDT’s offices are based in London. However, this role lends itself to home-working from elsewhere in the
UK with occasional visits to our main office.

Hours per week: 37.5
Salary: Circa £65,000 – £75,000, depending on experience

Alongside the leadership development services we offer schools and school leaders across England, we also act as champions for Continuing Professional Development, advocating its importance, working closely with policy makers, politicians, think tanks and educational organisations across the spectrum, in order to emphasise the lessons from research as well as build on the great practice that already exists.

The Director of Education is responsible for the quality and impact of our services and programmes, importantly weaving the strands of our work together to ensure we continue to provide a sustainable, cohesive and effective offer for schools, partners, funders and policy makers.
We are looking for an inspiring and strategic leader with knowledge and understanding
of schools in England, school leadership and education policy context both locally and nationally. Bringing consolidated senior programme management and an understanding of how to use communication and policy making to shape practice, advocacy and campaigning work, you will have the ability to forge effective cross-sector relationships with a variety of statutory, voluntary and community organisations. Deeply committed to the TDT values and restless to create change, you need to be someone who leads by example, ensuring that the Trust models the very best culture and teamwork that we want in every school.
