The Opportunity

Barnsley College is seeking a passionate and experienced Course Leader to join our Foundation Learning department. This part-time role offers the chance to lead and deliver a range of courses that support learners with diverse needs and help them achieve their full potential.

You will be responsible for planning, delivering, and reviewing curriculum content, developing new teaching materials, and ensuring high standards of student retention, attendance, and achievement. You will teach across a variety of programmes, support learners through tutorials, and contribute to marketing and recruitment activities.

As Course Leader, you will also oversee the quality of delivery, manage staff associated with your course area, and foster strong partnerships with external organisations. You will play a key role in shaping the curriculum and supporting learners through engaging and inclusive education.

About You

You are an enthusiastic educator with experience in teaching and curriculum development. You understand the needs of Foundation Learning students and are committed to creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.

You bring strong communication skills, a collaborative approach, and a passion for helping learners succeed. You are confident in planning schemes of work, assessing student progress, and using data to drive improvements.

Required

·         Cert Ed, PGCE, or Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (DTLLS) – or willingness to work towards

·         GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and maths at Grade C/4 or above

·         Experience teaching or supporting learners in Foundation Learning or similar settings
