Role: Team Leader – Teaching Assistants (Pathways)
Location: Central Bedfordshire College – Dunstable Kingsway Campus
Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £28,325 and £33,231 per annum (Pro-Rata) DOE and Qualifications, People’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.
Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 40 weeks per year
Contract Type: Permanent – Term Time
About the role:
We are currently seeking a Team Leader of Teaching Assistants (Pathways) to join our Foundation Learning and Additional Learning Support department at The Bedford College Group.
As a Team Leader, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
- Team Leadership & Line Management – Line manage Cross College TAs, including appraisals, probation reviews, mentoring, performance management, and participation in recruitment and training coordination.
- Deployment & Resource Planning – Allocate and timetable TAs effectively across departments, ensuring support aligns with student needs, funding allocations, and promotes learner independence.
- Quality Assurance & Development – Monitor and review in-class support through observations and walkthroughs, create action plans for improvement, and collaborate with curriculum and quality teams to ensure high standards.
- Operational Coordination – Manage daily cover, EHCP meeting attendance, lunch breaks, and classroom support during staff shortages; maintain accurate data on TA deployment and coverage.
- Statutory & College-Wide Responsibilities – Uphold safeguarding, equality, and health & safety standards; attend meetings, support college events, and contribute to staff development and communication across departments.
About you:
- Qualifications & Knowledge – Holds a Level 2 qualification in English and Maths and a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management, with strong understanding of SEND and inclusive education.
- Leadership & Experience – Proven experience managing large staff teams across multiple sites, supporting learners with diverse needs, and liaising effectively with internal stakeholders.
- Administrative & Organisational Skills – Skilled in maintaining accurate records, prioritising within budgets, and handling administrative tasks with attention to detail and efficiency.
- Professionalism & Communication – Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships, promote the college’s reputation, and work collaboratively within a team.
- Commitment & Flexibility – Demonstrates a sensitive, adaptable, and proactive approach; committed to safeguarding, equality, and professional development, with the ability to travel between sites as needed.
