Location: Central Bedfordshire College – Dunstable Kingsway Campus
Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £24,720 and £29,870 per annum (Pro-Rata) DOE and Qualifications, People’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.
Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 36 weeks per year
Contract Type: Permanent – Term Time
About the role:
We are currently seeking a Pathways Coffee Shop Trainer to join our Education and Teacher Training department at The Bedford College Group.
As a Pathways Coffee Shop Trainer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
- Practical Training Delivery – Deliver hands-on, skills-based training in a supported coffee shop setting, focusing on employability, independence, and Preparing for Adulthood outcomes for learners with SEND.
- Operational Support & Safety – Supervise learners in daily café operations, maintain stock and hygiene standards, and ensure a safe, inclusive environment aligned with individual support needs.
- Curriculum & Personalisation – Adapt tasks and environments to meet EHCP outcomes, model professional behaviours, and embed life skills into daily routines.
- Collaboration & Record-Keeping – Liaise with internal teams on timetables and placements, contribute to learner reviews, and maintain accurate records in line with GDPR and safeguarding protocols.
- Statutory Responsibilities – Uphold safeguarding, equality, health & safety, and actively engage in training and development in line with college policies and procedures.
About you:
- Qualifications & Knowledge – Holds a minimum Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject (e.g., Hospitality, Catering, Customer Service, or Education) and GCSEs (A–C) in English and Maths.
- SEND & Vocational Experience – Experienced in working with learners with SEND in practical or vocational settings, with a strong understanding of inclusive education and Preparing for Adulthood principles.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills – Demonstrates excellent communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills across all levels, with a welcoming and supportive approach to students and colleagues.
- Organisation & Professionalism – Highly organised, deadline-driven, and committed to upholding the college’s values of teamwork, inclusion, continuous improvement, and educational excellence.
- Cultural Awareness & Representation – Promotes equality and diversity, represents the college professionally, and contributes positively to its reputation and inclusive learning environment.
