Location: Huddersfield

Hours and Weeks per Year: 37 hours, 38 weeks per year

The role of Senior Catering Assistant, is based at our Waterfront Campus in Huddersfield.  Supporting and working with the Catering Supervisor, your focus will be on taking the lead in the kitchen on providing a world class and welcoming yet professional approach to providing students and staff with a high standard of quality food which is a varied menu offer, healthy, meets a wide range of dietary requirements, and is value for money.

Your key responsibilities will be to accept deliveries and place orders with the central catering stores; prepare, cook, present and serve food and drinks, ensuring that there are sufficient amounts, variety and quality of foods, whilst adhering to menus; keep the kitchen and refectory in a clean, hygienic and acceptable condition; ensuring that all payment transactions and recording is in line with college requirements and regulations.  Working as part of a team and having excellent customer service skills is integral to the role.

A current Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate is essential, as is demonstrable experience of working in a fast paced kitchen as well as front of house, customer focused catering role. Be able to plan and prioritise multiple tasks, be organised. Working to support the Catering Supervisor. It’s important that you’re able to communicate effectively and engage with young people and staff alike. Your key responsibilities will include accepting deliveries and assisting with the central catering stores; prepare, cook, present and serve food and drinks; keep the kitchen, refectory and yourself in a clean, hygienic and acceptable standard, following Health & Safety requirements. Working as part of and inspiring a team, and having excellent customer service skills is integral to the role.

Term time only staff who start mid year will have their initial salary payments calculated based on actual weeks worked and the number of pay dates between the beginning of employment and the end of the academic year.
