Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic team player to join University Centre Reaseheath (UCR) as a HE Student Support Officer. This student-focused role is key to enhancing academic success and engagement across our higher education programmes.

About the Role

As HE Student Support Officer, you will work closely with academic and support staff to deliver high-quality academic study skills support to students. This includes group workshops, whole cohort teaching, and targeted 1:1 sessions. You’ll play a vital role in promoting student engagement, monitoring academic progress, and coordinating interventions to support retention and achievement.

You’ll also contribute to the development of a vibrant academic community, facilitate student voice activities, and support students in accessing specialist academic and welfare services.

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver academic skills support through tutorials, workshops, and digital platforms.
  • Monitor student engagement and progress.
  • Facilitate student voice activities and promote participation in surveys.
  • Maintain accurate records and evaluate the impact of support interventions.
  • Stay up to date with developments in teaching, learning, and digital technologies.
  • Support recruitment, transition, and engagement activities across UCR.
     

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold a minimum Level 6 qualification (ideally in a science or land-based discipline).
  • Have a recognised teaching qualification or be willing to work towards one.
  • Demonstrate experience supporting students in a higher education setting.
  • Be confident working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Have strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Teams.

Please note this role constitutes ‘regulated activity’ as defined by the Protection of Freedom Act 2012. The successful candidate will therefore be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check with barred list information prior to starting employment.
