Location: The Bedford Sixth Form
Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £31,930 and £36,878 per annum (Pro-Rata) DOE and Qualifications, 45 days annual leave (Pro-Rata) plus Bank holidays, Teacher’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses. Note – Salary and holiday entitlement is for that of a qualified Teacher.
Hours/Weeks: 18.5 hours per week – 52 weeks per year
Contract Type: Permanent – Part Time
About the role:
We are currently seeking a Teacher in Drama to join our Sixth Forms department at The Bedford College Group.
As a Teacher, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
- Subject Teaching & Engagement – Deliver high-quality lessons in one or more specialisms (e.g. English, Media, Drama, Art), inspiring students and fostering curiosity and enthusiasm for learning.
- Assessment & Student Progress – Provide timely feedback, track progress, and contribute to retention and success targets through effective planning and delivery.
- Curriculum & Enrichment – Support curriculum development, organise extracurricular activities, and contribute to departmental innovation and performance review.
- College-Wide Participation – Attend meetings across campuses, support ID checks, invigilate exams, and engage in promotional events such as open days and parents’ evenings.
- Statutory Duties & Development – Uphold safeguarding, equality, and health & safety standards, and actively participate in training and professional development.
About you:
- Qualifications & Teaching Experience – Degree in a relevant subject, Certificate in Education (or equivalent), GCSEs in English and Maths (A–C), and current experience teaching A Level in a Sixth Form or FE setting.
- Subject Knowledge & Pedagogy – Up-to-date expertise in subject area, syllabus, and teaching methods, with a proven record of success and use of ILT to enhance learning.
- Professional Skills & Attributes – Strong communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills; able to work independently and collaboratively, meet deadlines, and maintain high standards.
- Values & Student Focus – Committed to delivering outstanding learning experiences, promoting a welcoming environment, and upholding College values including student success and continuous improvement.
- Safeguarding & Flexibility – Demonstrates safeguarding awareness, maintains professional boundaries, and shows flexibility in working hours and locations, with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
