Here at Bournemouth & Poole College, we have a position available for a Maintenance Manager on a full time, permanent basis. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £40,408 per annum.

The Maintenance Manager Role:

As our Maintenance Manager, you will lead the Estates Maintenance Team and assist the Estates Manager in delivering the day to day operations of all estate’s maintenance activities, across the 3 College Campus’ in Poole, Bournemouth and Fulcrum, ensuring legal compliance, functional learning spaces, and best value. This is achieved by managing the Maintenance Team, utilising the CAFM system effectively, contractor management, plus an element of ‘on the job’ maintenance activity to complete the planned and reactive maintenance of building fabric, mechanical an electrical infrastructure.

 

Responsibilities as our Maintenance Manager will include:

-Lead and line-manage the maintenance operative team using the College HR processes and systems, and identify training and development needs as necessary.
-Daily monitoring and evaluation of Helpdesk input/output, and co- ordinate reactive and planned maintenance tasks, with focus on statutory workorders for compliance.
-To implement procedures that deliver best estates maintenance practice and meet statutory compliance.
-Prompt response during emergency or critical events.
-To ensure all Estates Maintenance records, procedures and systems, including Estates Helpdesk and CAFM Software packages are fully utilized, kept up to date and maintained. Administrative records must be transparent, and well organized, with the ability to generate management reports.
-To ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with Health, Safety & Environmental regulations including conducting risk assessments, permit to work and client procedures are strictly adhered to.
-Occasional ‘on the job’ activity to support the Team in completing the workload, or their development.
-To keep abreast of, and implement maintenance industry best practice.
-To represent Estates at Sustainability Committee, and contribute to the Colleges Zero Carbon target.
-Ensure adherence to College financial regulations and procurement processes.
-Estimating, ordering and maintaining an adequate supply of stock. Raise POs, and goods receipt on Business World Finance system
-Ensure maintenance risks or contractor risks are proactively identified and managed.
-Managing an element of the Estates Maintenance contracts, and subsequent monitoring of KPIs and SLAs to ensure that value for money and contract specifications are achieved.
-To communicate in a structured way, with all internal and external parties, to measure levels of customer satisfaction, share best practice and develop a partnership approach to problem solving.

As our Maintenance Manager, you’ll ideally have:

-GSCE (or equivalent) English and Math’s
-A recognised trade qualification, in a construction or M&E discipline e.g. a National Technicians or City and Guilds Certificate in a relevant subject or equivalent relevant work experience
-Previous Building & Maintenance work history in the Construction, or Facilities sectors with a sound understanding of all trades.
-Experience of Supervision or line-management of a Maintenance team
-Experience in Management of Contractors
-The ability to interpret AutoCad drawings and use of CAFM software.
-Competent in Microsoft Office email/Outlook.
-Current Statutory Compliance i.e. Asbestos, Fire Safety, Legionella etc, and Health & Safety requirements.
