Salary: Salary is £24.00 per hour
Hours/Weeks: 19 hours per week – Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 08.30 – 17.30
Contract Type: Sessional – Hourly Paid
About the role:
We are currently seeking an Associate Lecturer in Plumbing to join our Construction and Building Services department at The Bedford College Group.
As a Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
- Teaching & Assessment Delivery – Prepares, delivers, and assesses subject specialisms across various levels and qualifications, ensuring a high-quality, inclusive learning experience tailored to individual student needs.
- Curriculum & Resource Development – Designs up-to-date schemes of work, develops engaging learning materials, and contributes to curriculum innovation and course development aligned with awarding body standards.
- Student Progress & Support – Monitors and records student progress, provides feedback and reports, and ensures learners meet academic standards and deadlines while maintaining a positive learning environment.
- Team Collaboration & Administration – Participates in course team meetings, manages administrative tasks such as registers and enrolments, and supports tutors and assistants within sessions.
- Compliance & Professional Standards – Upholds safeguarding, equality, health & safety policies, and engages in ongoing training and development, contributing to the college’s values and reputation.
About you:
- Essential Qualifications & Experience – Holds a Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject and GCSEs (Grade A–C) in Maths and English, with successful experience delivering training or education to groups of young people or adults.
- Sector Knowledge & Inclusivity – Demonstrates up-to-date knowledge in their specialist area, experience working with diverse backgrounds, and a clear understanding of how to promote equality and diversity
- Professional Skills & Conduct – Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to meet deadlines, maintain high performance, and represent the college professionally.
- Teaching & Learning Excellence – Consistently supports high-quality learning experiences, contributes to curriculum development, and adapts teaching to meet varied learner needs across further and higher education.
- Commitment & Flexibility – Willing to work across college sites, update skills regularly, uphold safeguarding and health & safety standards, and maintain appropriate professional boundaries with learners.

What is an Associate?
Associates work on a short term basis as assigned. They teach or provide support services and they work with and are supported by core staff. As an Associate you will be issued with an Associate agreement, under this Agreement period you will be eligible to work on assignments offered to you. Typically an agreement runs from January to December and may be renewed thereafter.
