Role: Support Internship Job Coach

Location: Bedford College – Cauldwell Street Campus

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £24,720 and £29,870 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 27 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, People’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

About the role:

We are currently seeking a Support Internship Job Coach to join our Additional Support department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Support Internship Job Coach, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Learner Support & Development – Provides tailored support to young people with SEND across work placements and classroom settings, helping them build communication, confidence, and employability skills.
  • Workplace & Community Engagement – Supports students in developing life skills and independence within workplace and community environments, including personal care and medication administration where required.
  • Employer & Family Collaboration – Builds positive relationships with employers and families to ensure meaningful work opportunities and successful outcomes for students.
  • Programme Coordination & Monitoring – Contributes to individual learning plans, tracks progress, maintains records, and supports assessment and review processes in collaboration with teaching staff.
  • Compliance & College Contribution – Upholds safeguarding, EDI, and health & safety standards, engages in training and development, and participates in college events and team activities to support the wider programme.

About you:

  • Essential Qualifications & Knowledge – Educated to Level 2 in Maths and English, with a relevant Level 3 qualification or willingness to work towards, and a solid understanding of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Experience & Technical Skills – Proven experience supporting young people with SEND in educational or care settings, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and maintaining accurate records.
  • Learner-Centred Approach – Committed to creating a high-quality, inclusive learning environment, promoting wellbeing, independence, and safeguarding, while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
  • Teamwork & Communication – Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively, contribute positively to team dynamics, and communicate effectively in various formats.
  • Professionalism & Flexibility – Demonstrates a positive, adaptable attitude, upholds the college’s reputation, and is willing to travel across sites and engage in ongoing training and development.
