Summary

HAWI Rocks is no ordinary Saturday School. We’re a vibrant, high-energy music programme dedicated to forming real pop and rock bands with young people in Years 5-10. Now in our third year and growing strong with around 30 talented students, we’re on the lookout for passionate, skilled musicians to join our dynamic team of tutors.

As a HAWI Rocks tutor, you will do more than just teach. You’ll ignite creativity, build confidence and bring out powerful performances from a diverse group of young musicians. You will be working alongside fellow specialists in drums, keyboards, vocals and guitar to guide students through a carefully curated setlist of modern pop and rock hits.

Skills

Main Areas of Responsibility

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering high-quality, engaging instruction on your specialist instrument
  • Leading band rehearsals and helping students shine on stage
  • Teaching essential music skills like reading lead sheets, tabs and understanding song structure
  • Supporting live performances at end-of-term showcases and exciting events like the Wimbledon High Battle of the Bands and Kings College Arts Festival
  • Setting up gear and creating a safe, inclusive and inspiring environment for all students
  • Collaborating with a passionate team to make every session count

Your working hours will be Saturdays from 10am to 1pm and you will be expected to commit to 10 Saturdays each school term, resulting in approximately 30 Saturdays per academic year.

Qualifications & Experience

We would like to hear from you if you have:

  • Proficiency in your instrument and a solid understanding of how bands work together
  • Experience teaching young people and a flair for making music fun and accessible
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative spirit
  • Patience, positivity and a genuine love for music education
