Exams Coordinator
Department: MIS & Systems
Salary: £31,590 to £34,507 per annum
Contract Type: Permanent Full time 37 hours per week

Reference: REC2237 | Closing Date: Sunday, 31st August 2025

The Opportunity

In this role, you will take responsibility for managing all examinations and related processes across the College, ensuring that our students and staff receive a high-quality, efficient, and timely service. You will oversee the organisation, delivery, and compliance of internal and external assessments, ensuring that all activity adheres to awarding body and JCQ regulations. Working within our friendly MIS & Systems department, you will lead the exams team, ensuring that processes are accurate, secure, and fully compliant, while also providing assurance to senior management that all requirements are met.

You will act as the main point of contact for all examination-related matters, including communications with awarding bodies, responding to queries and complaints, and ensuring that results and certificates are released promptly. Your role will involve planning and coordinating examination timetables, securing and preparing examination venues, and managing the recruitment and training of invigilators. You will also oversee regular audits and respond to inspections, implementing any recommendations in a timely manner to maintain full compliance.

You will also be responsible for the professional development and performance of the exams team, ensuring workloads are managed effectively and that all staff are fully trained in systems, procedures, and regulations. You will also work closely with other departments to deliver an efficient, customer-focused service that supports student achievement and progression. In addition to your primary responsibilities, you will contribute to the broader work of the MIS & Systems department, gaining insight into processes across the student journey and supporting continuous improvement.

This is a great opportunity to step into a role where your work has a meaningful impact on our students’ success and progression. You will have the scope to lead and develop a dedicated team, shaping processes that ensure examinations run smoothly and to the highest standards. This role also offers variety, with a mix of planning, problem-solving, and hands-on coordination, meaning no two days are the same.

About You

We are looking for someone with a proven track record in examinations management who can combine strong organisational skills with the ability to lead a team effectively. You will have a minimum of one year’s supervisory experience, including target setting and workload monitoring, alongside at least three years’ recent and relevant experience working in the Examinations Office of an FE College. Your detailed understanding of awarding body and JCQ regulations will enable you to confidently implement policies and procedures that ensure full compliance.

You will be confident working independently, with the ability to prioritise, delegate, and manage tasks effectively. Your attention to detail will be exceptional, ensuring procedures are followed precisely and that students are accurately registered for the correct exams and qualifications. You will bring experience of working with awarding body administrative systems, policies, and procedures, and be adept at using data to monitor and track exam processes. Strong IT skills will help you complete tasks efficiently, and your ability to prepare and write reports will be key to providing clear and accurate updates.

Your ability to stay composed under pressure and motivate your team will ensure deadlines are met without compromising on quality. Above all, you will bring a customer-focused approach, with a clear understanding of the importance of delivering services that support our students’ success and maintain the integrity of the examination process.
