Part Time Variable Hours Bursary Support Administrator

Hours: 7.5 hours, fixed term until Friday 19th September

Salary: £14.77 per hour inclusive of holiday pay*

*the base hourly rate is £12.62 per hour, plus holiday pay, which gives an approximate hourly rate of £14.77 per hour.

About the role
We are seeking a detail-oriented individual to join our bursary team temporarily during our peak period. In this role, you will be responsible for answering email, telephone, and face-to-face queries, ensuring that all communications are handled promptly and professionally. You will also be tasked with saving evidence and documentation, gaining a thorough understanding of the bursary options available, and performing various administrative tasks to expedite assessments. Your efforts will directly support students in accessing the financial support they need. If you have strong communication skills, an eye for detail, and a passion for helping others, we would love to hear from you.

The role is fixed term from Tuesday 19th August until Friday 19th September. If you are interested in this role then it’s important that you are able to act on pre-employment checks quickly.  

About the Person
The ideal candidate will have some prior experience in administrative or customer service roles, with an ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Key skills required for this role include excellent verbal and written communication, strong organisational abilities, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and the ability to quickly learn new software. The candidate must demonstrate empathy, patience, and a commitment to supporting students’ financial needs. Attention to detail and the ability to work effectively under pressure during peak periods are crucial.

About the College
We are a large, regional college serving a population across York and North Yorkshire of more one million people. Each year, we have approximately 4,000 school leavers, 1,000 apprentices, 2,000 adult students, and 400 higher-level students studying with us.
