Role: King’s Trust Development Worker – Northampton South
Location: The Abbey Centre, 10 Overslade Close, Northampton, NN4 0RZ
Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £23,557 and £25,849 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 27 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, People’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.
Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year
Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time
About the role:
We are currently seeking a King’s Trust Development Worker to join our Community Learning department at The Bedford College Group.
As a Development Worker, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
- Programme Support & Recruitment – Assists the Prince’s Trust Team Leader with recruiting team members, setting up individual learning plans, and supporting academic delivery throughout the programme.
- Learner Development & Placement – Provides basic skills tuition, conducts reviews and assessments, and helps source and risk-assess work placements for learners post-programme.
- Administration & Promotion – Supports record keeping, attends meetings and training, and promotes the programme to employers and community organisations.
- Compliance & Continuous Improvement – Ensures health and safety compliance, participates in appraisal and development schemes, and undertakes duties aligned with strategic goals.
- Safeguarding & Professional Standards – Upholds safeguarding, equality, and health and safety policies, and engages in ongoing training and development to support learners effectively.
About you:
- Qualifications & Commitment – Holds GCSE English (A–C or equivalent) and is willing to achieve GCSE Maths if not already attained, with a strong understanding of equality, diversity, and health and safety.
- Experience & Behavioural Insight – Experienced in supporting work placements, managing challenging behaviour, and delivering basic skills to a diverse range of learners.
- Skills & Team Contribution – Excellent organisational and time management skills, strong communicator, and a collaborative team player who motivates others and builds positive relationships.
- Values & Professional Conduct – Works in line with core values (Student Focus, High Performance, Respect, Openness, Honesty), maintaining professionalism and promoting the organisation’s reputation.
- Safeguarding & Flexibility – Committed to safeguarding, continuous learning, and flexible working across service locations, with awareness of health and safety and appropriate boundaries with vulnerable groups.
