Salary: £21.50 per hour

Hours/Weeks: Varied depending on needs – 0 – 20 hours per week

Contract Type: Sessional – Hourly Paid

About the role:

We are currently seeking an Associate Lecturer in Pre-Employability to join our Community Learning department at The Bedford College Group.

As an Associate Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Teaching & Learning Delivery – Plan, deliver, and assess subject specialisms across various levels, ensuring engaging, inclusive, and high-quality learning experiences tailored to individual student needs.
  • Curriculum & Assessment – Develop up-to-date schemes of work and learning materials, assess student progress in line with awarding body standards, and maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Student Support & Behaviour Management – Guide students to achieve their potential, monitor progress, uphold the Student Code of Conduct, and manage classroom support staff effectively.
  • Professional Responsibilities – Participate in team meetings, complete administrative tasks to meet funding requirements, and contribute to continuous improvement and innovation in teaching practices.
  • Compliance & Development – Uphold safeguarding, equality, health and safety standards, and actively engage in ongoing training and professional development relevant to the role.

About you:

  • Qualifications & Commitment – Holds a Level 3 qualification and GCSEs in Maths and English (A–C), with a willingness to achieve the Level 3 Award in Education and Training.
  • Experience & Knowledge – Proven success in delivering education or training to diverse groups, with up-to-date subject knowledge and strong performance in previous roles.
  • Skills & Professionalism – Excellent organisational and communication skills, confident across various formats, and committed to delivering high-quality learning experiences.
  • Values & Collaboration – Demonstrates alignment with College values, contributes positively to team dynamics, and promotes the College’s reputation through professional conduct.
  • Safeguarding & Flexibility – Committed to safeguarding, equality, health and safety, ongoing development, and flexible working across all College locations.

What is an Associate?
Associates work on a short term basis as assigned. They teach or provide support services and they work with and are supported by core staff. As an Associate you will be issued with an Associate agreement, under this Agreement period you will be eligible to work on assignments offered to you. Typically an agreement runs from January to December and may be renewed thereafter.
