Role: Programme Manager – Engagement and SEMH

Location: Houghton Regis – The Hub

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £40,000 and £46,349 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 35 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, Teacher’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

About the role:

We are currently seeking a Programme Manager in Engagement and SEMH to join our Foundation Learning department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Programme Manager, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Leadership of SEMH Provision – Lead the daily operations, staffing, and curriculum of the off-site SEMH provision at The Hub, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and high-quality learning environment for students with EHCPs.
  • Curriculum & Teaching Excellence – Design and deliver a flexible, therapeutic curriculum that supports personal, social, and academic development, with clear progression pathways and preparation for adulthood.
  • Student Progress & Transitions – Monitor student outcomes, manage EHCP reviews, and support transitions into mainstream college, supported internships, or employment, in collaboration with internal teams and external agencies.
  • Site & Safeguarding Management – Oversee the operational management of the site, ensuring compliance with health and safety, safeguarding, and accurate record-keeping for learners and staff.
  • Collaboration & Professional Values – Work closely with stakeholders, contribute to reporting and quality assurance, and model TBCG values through inclusive practice, continuous development, and a commitment to safeguarding and equality.

About you:

  • Qualifications & Experience – Relevant degree or Level 5 qualification in SEND/SEMH, PGCE or equivalent, and GCSEs in English and Maths, with proven experience teaching and supporting young people with SEMH and EHCPs.
  • Leadership & Curriculum Expertise – Demonstrated success in team leadership, curriculum planning, and delivery in inclusive settings, with strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and quality improvement.
  • Skills & Professionalism – Excellent interpersonal, behaviour management, and communication skills, with the ability to lead teams, influence stakeholders, and maintain high standards of teaching and assessment.
  • Values & Student-Centred Practice – Committed to trauma-informed, inclusive education, with empathy, resilience, and a strong focus on safeguarding, wellbeing, and promoting equality and diversity.
  • Flexibility & Compliance – Able to travel across campuses, adapt to changing needs, and uphold professional boundaries, health and safety, and TBCG’s values and policies at all times.
