Status: Permanent, 29.6 hours per week (4 days)

About the role

The Foundation Department at Reaseheath College have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and ambitious individual to join our specialist teaching team, in a part time capacity working 4 days per week.

Based within our designated teaching area you will be responsible for the delivery of practical and theory classes to our Entry Level & Level 1 Animal Care students with course management responsibilities for our Level 1 Animal Care groups. You will be required to contribute to the development and marketing of new curriculum opportunities as we seek to expand our provision and you will support the Foundation Department’s commitment to improving progression and life opportunities for our students.

We are looking for an individual with a strong interest and experience in Animal Care with up-to-date knowledge. Additional knowledge and skills in other land-based areas, such as Agriculture and Equine, would be beneficial but is not essential. Ideally you will have some experience of teaching although teacher training, leading to a recognised teaching qualification, will be provided if required. Knowledge of SEND and complex learning needs is essential to this role.

Key responsibilities:

  • Delivery to Entry Level and Level 1 Animal Care students
  • Develop Animal Care curriculum content in line with College standards
  • Collaborate with the Animal Management department to maximise learner experience
  • Identify and organise work experience placements with external employers
  • Implement quality assurance processes to ensure consistency of delivery and learning
     

The successful candidate will:

  • Relevant degree level or professional L3 qualification (Animal Care/Animal Management-related)
  • Level 2 Maths & English or equivalent
  • Experience of working with SEND students, particularly those with complex needs and an understanding of key national strategies linked to SEND education, training and development is essential
  • For this role you will need to be able to access a range of external work placement providers/ organisations
