Role: Lecturer – Pathways

Location: Central Bedfordshire College – Kingsway Dunstable Campus

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £31,930 and £36,878 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 45 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, Teacher’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

About the role:

We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Pathways to join our Foundation Learning department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Inclusive Teaching & Learning – Deliver engaging lessons across various levels for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, ensuring individual needs are met and progress is effectively monitored.
  • Curriculum & Assessment – Develop up-to-date schemes of work, create diverse learning materials, and assess student work to meet awarding body standards and support academic success.
  • Student Support & Development – Guide students toward independence, employment, and further education by fostering vocational opportunities and maintaining high standards of behaviour and engagement.
  • Collaboration & Administration – Work closely with colleagues, contribute to course development and quality processes, and manage essential administrative tasks like enrolments and progress tracking.
  • Safeguarding & Professionalism – Uphold statutory responsibilities in safeguarding, equality, and health and safety, while actively participating in training, development, and promotional activities.

About you:

  • Qualifications & Experience – Relevant degree or Level 5 English qualification, GCSEs in Maths and English, and recent experience teaching and assessing learners with SEND at Entry level and above.
  • Skills & Knowledge – Strong understanding of SEND developments, equality and diversity, and high performance in previous roles, with excellent organisational and IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Professionalism & Values – Demonstrates commitment to teamwork, inclusion, continuous improvement, and nurturing educational excellence, while promoting the College’s values and reputation.
  • Communication & Relationships – Excellent interpersonal, influencing, and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships across the College and create a welcoming environment for students.
  • Flexibility & Safeguarding – Willingness to travel, work flexibly, maintain professional boundaries, and uphold safeguarding, health and safety, and CPD responsibilities.
