Role: Lecturer – Painting and Decorating
Location: Tresham College – Corby Campus
Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £31,930 and £36,878 per annum DOE and Qualifications,a Market Supplement could be available for the right candidate, 45 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, Teacher’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.
Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

About the role:
We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Painting and Decorating to join our Construction and Building Services department at The Bedford College Group.
As a Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
- Teaching & Curriculum Delivery – Prepare, deliver, and assess a range of qualifications with a focus on Painting & Decorating (P&D) to Level 3, contributing to curriculum development and course leadership as required.
- Student Support & Progress – Provide 1:1 mentoring, track and assess student progress, arrange work placements, and contribute to reports and reviews to support student achievement and development.
- Resource & Lesson Planning – Develop schemes of work, plan engaging lessons, create teaching materials (including online resources), and maintain up-to-date subject knowledge aligned with industry standards.
- Quality Assurance & Administration – Undertake internal verification, complete course-related admin, supervise support staff, and ensure compliance with assessment strategies and college procedures.
- Professional Standards & Compliance – Promote safeguarding, equality, and health and safety; participate in training and development; and represent the college at events such as open days and careers conventions.
About you:
- Qualifications & Industry Experience – Holds a Level 2/3 Painting and Decorating qualification (or equivalent), a Stage 3 teaching qualification (or willingness to achieve), and GCSEs in English and Maths; experience in the construction industry is essential.
- Teaching & Performance – Proven success teaching P&D to Level 3 in an FE environment, with strong classroom skills, curriculum development experience, and a track record of high performance and student achievement.
- Professional Skills & Teamwork – Demonstrates excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills; contributes positively to team goals and values the expertise of others.
- Student-Centred Approach – Creates a welcoming, inclusive learning environment, supports diverse learners, and promotes equality, safeguarding, and the college’s outstanding reputation.
- Commitment & Flexibility – Willing to travel across sites, adapt to changing demands, and continuously update skills and knowledge while maintaining high standards of professionalism and integrity.
