Salary/Benefits: Salary up to £48,925 per annum DOE and Qualifications.

Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 39 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent

About the role:

We are currently seeking a Faculty Lead in Arts and Creative Industries to join our Sixth Forms department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Faculty Lead, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Strategic Leadership & Vision – Act as a key member of the extended leadership team, supporting the strategic direction of The Bedford Sixth Form through curriculum planning, performance management, and continuous improvement of teaching and learning.
  • Curriculum & Student Outcomes – Oversee all subjects within the faculty, ensuring high-quality schemes of work, outstanding student progress, and effective use of data to drive achievement, enrichment, and post-18 progression.
  • Team Management & Development – Line manage subject staff, lead performance reviews, support professional development, and ensure effective communication, mentoring, and succession planning across the team.
  • Teaching & Learning Delivery – Maintain a minimum teaching commitment of 10 hours per week, delivering engaging, high-quality lessons, contributing to curriculum development, and supporting extracurricular and promotional activities.
  • Operational & College-Wide Responsibilities – Manage budgets, ensure compliance with policies, attend cross-campus meetings, and support college-wide activities including open days, ID checks, and exam invigilation.

About you:

  • Qualifications & Experience – Holds a degree and teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent), with recent professional development and a strong understanding of Post-16 and A Level education.
  • Leadership & Improvement – Proven experience in leading A Level provision, implementing improvement strategies, raising achievement and retention rates, and managing high-performing teams.
  • Analytical & Organisational Skills – Excellent data analysis, project management, and decision-making abilities, with strong prioritisation and organisational skills to manage complex workloads.
  • Communication & Professionalism – Outstanding verbal and written communication, ability to influence at all levels, maintain confidentiality, and build professional relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Values & Commitment – Demonstrates high standards, a passion for education, commitment to safeguarding, and flexibility to travel and adapt working hours to meet the needs of the college.
