Location: Bedford College – Cauldwell Street Campus

Salary: £25.00 per hour.

Hours/Weeks: 16 hours per week – Start date 08 September 2025 and finishes 31 July 2026

Contract Type: Sessional – Hourly Paid

About the role:

We are currently seeking an Exam Assessor to join our Additional Support department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Exam Assessor, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Access Arrangements & Assessment – Conduct access arrangements in line with Joint Qualifications Council requirements and carry out interviews to assess and recommend support for students with learning difficulties or disabilities.
  • Student Support & Case Management – Manage a small caseload of High Needs Students, ensuring tailored support is in place and liaising with curriculum areas to promote student achievement.
  • Communication & Collaboration – Disseminate updates on access arrangements, attend departmental and curriculum meetings, and contribute to course publicity, recruitment, and marketing efforts.
  • Quality Assurance & Record Keeping – Maintain accurate records for students and external agencies, oversee quality assurance processes for assessors, and ensure data is up to date for funding and compliance.
  • Professional Standards & Development – Uphold safeguarding, equality, and health and safety responsibilities, and actively participate in training and development aligned with college policies and priorities.

About you:

  • Qualifications & Knowledge – Holds or is working toward a postgraduate certificate in SpLD or CPT3A, with Level 2 literacy and numeracy, safeguarding training, and strong knowledge of JCQ regulations and curriculum models.
  • Assessment & Support Experience – Experienced in assessing students, providing high-quality learning experiences, and raising retention and achievement rates, particularly for learners with additional needs.
  • Communication & Collaboration – Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence others, work effectively in diverse teams, and build professional relationships.
  • Professionalism & Values – Demonstrates commitment to equality, safeguarding, and health and safety; upholds the college’s values and maintains professional behaviour and boundaries at all times.
  • Flexibility & Development – Willing to travel across campuses, adapt to changing work patterns, and engage in continuous professional development to maintain up-to-date skills and knowledge.

What is an Associate?
Associates work on a short term basis as assigned. They teach or provide support services and they work with and are supported by core staff. As an Associate you will be issued with an Associate agreement, under this Agreement period you will be eligible to work on assignments offered to you. Typically an agreement runs from January to December and may be renewed thereafter.
