The Supported Learning Department is seeking a passionate and experienced Level 7 Assessor (Teacher) to support adult learners with diverse needs. You’ll deliver and assess high-quality, inclusive teaching tailored to adult learners working towards qualifications in areas such as personal development, employability, or independent living. This role requires a flexible, learner-centred approach and a commitment to promoting progression and independence. You’ll hold a relevant Level 7 teaching qualification and Assessor award (e.g. TAQA/CAVA), with experience in adult or supported learning. We have an exciting opportunity at our Openshaw Campus to join our Supported Learning Department as a Level 7 Assessor on a permanent, part-time (17.5 hours per week) basis.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A teaching qualification at Level 5 or above. A specialist Dyslexia/SpLD qualification at level 5 or above, or the ability to achieve this within 12 months of recruitment
  • Also, at least one of the following;
    • a postgraduate course at or equal to Level 7, including at least 100 hours relating to specialist assessments of learners with Dyslexia/SpLD#, or Exam Access Arrangements
    • A current SpLD Practising Certificate, as awarded by BDA, the Dyslexia Guild, or Patoss and listed on the sASC website
  • Current and valid industry specialism in SpLD and EAA Assessment
  • Assessor qualifications (if required by Awarding Organisation)
  • Minimum Level 7 occupational qualification
  • English and maths minimum level 2 Grade C or Grade 4 and above
  • Significant Experience of delivering outstanding teaching and learning and Exam Access
  • Arrangement assessment
  • Proven track record of high-quality inclusive teaching in delivering subject specialism or current valid industry specialism
  • Working as a team
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Meet EAA caseload targets and CPD delivery plans
  • Accurate and timely reports and records
  • Positive contribution to team cohesion, consistency of support offer across the different campuses and the future planning processes of the team
