Role: Payroll Coordinator
Location: Tresham College – Kettering Campus
Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £24,720 and £29,870 per annum (Pro-Rata) DOE and Qualifications, 27 days annual leave (Pro-Rata) plus Bank holidays, People’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.
Hours/Weeks: 25 hours per week – 52 weeks per year – typically Monday – Friday, 5 hours per day but there is room for some flexibility which can be discussed at interview. Monday – Friday attendance is desired, however.
Contract Type: Permanent – Part-Time
About the role:
We are currently seeking a Payroll Coordinator to join our HR & Payroll department at The Bedford College Group.
As a Payroll Coordinator, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
- Payroll Operations – Support the monthly payroll process by collecting, inputting, and processing data, managing statutory payments, handling queries, and maintaining accurate records in line with TBCG procedures.
- System Administration – Assist with the maintenance and reporting of HR systems, develop user guides, manage user accounts, and troubleshoot recurring issues to support efficient payroll and HR operations
- Team Collaboration & Support – Work collaboratively within the payroll and wider HR team, providing cover, participating in inductions, and contributing to team objectives and professional standards.
- College-Wide Engagement – Attend meetings across campuses, support college events such as open days and exams, and contribute to a positive and professional team culture.
- Compliance & Development – Uphold safeguarding, equality, and health and safety responsibilities, while actively engaging in mandatory training and continuous professional development.
About you:
- Qualifications & Experience – Holds GCSEs (A–C) or equivalent in English and Maths, with experience in payroll or related HR/Finance tasks and handling employee queries.
- Technical & Administrative Skills – Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word; confident in managing sensitive data, prioritising tasks, and meeting deadlines under pressure.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills – Strong verbal and written communication, customer service, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Professionalism & Adaptability – Demonstrates sound decision-making, confidentiality, and flexibility in adapting to changing workloads while maintaining high standards of professionalism.
- Values & Development – Committed to continuous personal development and working in line with TBCG’s values, including safeguarding, equality, and health and safety, with the ability to travel across campuses as needed.
