Role: Lecturer – Electronics / Electrical Engineering
Location: Bedford College – Cauldwell Street Campus
Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £31,930 and £36,878 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 45 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, Teacher’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.
Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

About the role:
We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Electronics / Electrical Engineering to join our Engineering department at The Bedford College Group.
As a Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
- Teaching & Subject Delivery – Deliver and assess Level 3 to HNC/D Engineering courses with a focus on Automation (e.g. PLCs, robotics) and/or Electronics (e.g. circuit design, soldering, fault finding), ensuring engaging and effective learning.
- Curriculum & Course Development – Contribute to curriculum innovation, update schemes of work, and develop multimedia learning materials aligned with awarding body standards and industry needs.
- Student Support & Progress – Guide students toward success through tailored support, progress monitoring, and the creation of inclusive, high-quality learning environments that meet behavioural and academic expectations.
- Professional Engagement & Collaboration – Participate in course teams, employer engagement, marketing events, and quality assurance processes, while supporting new staff and contributing to continuous improvement.
- Compliance & Continuous Development – Uphold safeguarding, equality, and health and safety responsibilities, while actively engaging in professional development and being flexible with work locations and schedules.
About you:
- Qualifications & Industry Experience – Holds or is working toward an HNC/D in Engineering or has substantial industrial experience, with strong knowledge and practical skills in Automation (e.g. PLCs, robotics) and/or Electronics.
- Teaching & Technical Skills – Capable of teaching Engineering subjects at Levels 2, 3, and HNC/D, delivering practical demonstrations, and using software tools like Multisim or RobotStudio to enhance lesson delivery.
- Professional Experience & Collaboration – Demonstrates success in previous roles, works effectively in diverse teams, and contributes positively to shared goals and deadlines through strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Student Support & Learning Environment – Creates inclusive, high-quality learning experiences, supports student progress, and uses tracking systems confidently to monitor outcomes and maintain a welcoming environment.
