Maintenance Operative

£28,408 to £30,960 per annum

Are you someone who takes pride in a job well done? Do you love fixing things, keeping spaces looking their best, and making a real difference every day? Are you proactive, practical, and passionate about quality?

If you have answered YES to these questions, then we want to hear from you!

Blackpool Sixth is a first-class college specialising in 16-19 education, and our amazing Estates team is right at the heart of it all, keeping everything running like clockwork. We’re on the lookout for a practical problem-solver to join us as our new Maintenance Operative. From leaky taps to lighting checks, event setups to keeping the place safe and secure; you’ll be a true campus hero.

This post is a permanent, full time role, working 37.5 hours per week. College core hours are  Monday to Friday; 08:30am-4:30pm, however this role requires flexibility working some evenings (normally until 8:00pm) if needed to gain access to complete maintenance work. The post holder is required to support with opening/closing the college if needed and occasional weekend or work at other trust sites in the Fylde area.

We’re looking for someone with a trade background who enjoys getting stuck in. You’ll help maintain the college’s buildings and systems, and play a key part in keeping the site secure and running smoothly; liaising with contractors as needed. Experience in building maintenance, joinery and/or mechanical & electrical work is ideal, but don’t worry if you haven’t worked in education before. Experience with compliance checks, door access control, CCTV, or Building Management Systems is a plus, but full training will be given where needed.

A day in your new role could see you:

  • Carrying out compliance checks and recording results
  • Completing planned and reactive maintenance tasks
  • Making sure heating and lighting levels are just right for learning
  • Setting up spaces for events and pitching in with the team—team spirit is key here!

Are you ready to roll up your sleeves and become the go-to fixer of all things? Apply now!

Closing date: 22nd July 2025 at 9:00am

Interviews: 29th July 2025
