We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP High Down, working as a Functional Skills English and Maths Teacher. This position is offered on a part-time, fixed-term basis, working 32 hrs per week. This will be for on an initial period of 6-months, with potential to extend.

Site Information
HMP High Down is located in Sutton in Surrey. It is a Category B male prison known for its extensive history and modern facilities. It offers a range of facilities aimed at rehabilitation and education. The prison’s mission is to provide a secure, safe, and rehabilitative environment that encourages positive change and prepares inmates for a successful reintegration into society.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will need to:
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Have the passion and ability to motivate and enthuse learners
- Utilise organisational skills to prioritise workload and meet deadlines and targets
- Be committed to positive team working
- Have experience of creating stimulating and vibrant environments conducive to learning
- Have a track record of achieving quality targets and producing accurate and timely reports
- Hold a teaching qualification and, where applicable, a relevant subject specialist qualification (in Maths or English) – with a commitment to obtain the outstanding qualification within 12 months
- Hold a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)/ Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS), or commit to work towards within a specified timeframe (Applies to Teachers in YOI only)
