Here at Bournemouth & Poole College, we have a position available for a Lecturer in Catering & Hospitality on a full-time, permanent basis. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £30,000 – £39,198 per annum. As of August 2025, this role will benefit from a 3% pay award.

The Lecturer in Catering & Hospitality Role:

As our Lecturer in Catering & Hospitality, you will deliver a flexible and responsive approach to students in both training and workplace environments. This includes undertaking skills development and competence assessments as needed. You will work as an integral part of the team, with the primary goal of fostering and managing students’ learning and assessment processes.

 

Responsibilities as our Lecturer in Catering & Hospitality will include:

· Educational Programme Development: Contribute to the creation and delivery of various educational programmes by identifying learning objectives, designing and producing study materials, and planning course/study programme delivery.

· High-Quality Learning Experiences: Utilise a variety of teaching and learning methods to ensure high-quality learning experiences.

· Best Practices in Teaching: Ensure that teaching practices are based on the latest and best available methods, maintaining a high standard of practice.

· Student Support: Provide both academic and pastoral support to students in accordance with established procedures.

· Outstanding Student Experience: Create an exceptional student experience that promotes progression or employment.

· Student Issue Management: Address student issues within agreed protocols.

· Additional Duties: Undertake other reasonable duties as required by the line manager and review the job description annually with the line manager.

· Appraisal and Training: Participate in the College’s appraisal process and undertake any appropriate training.

· Health and Safety: Ensure the health and safety of oneself and others.

· Equal Opportunities: Promote and integrate equal opportunities throughout all College activities.

 

As our Lecturer in Catering & Hospitality, you’ll ideally have:

·       Level 2 (or equivalent) English and Maths

·       Teaching Qualification or willingness to achieve within 2 years.

·       Senior Production Chef

·       Chef de Partie

·       Experience of facilitating learning for students in Further or Education or an appropriate workplace setting

·       Vocational expertise and experience in fine dining establishments within the hospitality industry

·       Knowledge of current evidence-based practice in field(s) of expertise of Fine dining, Patisserie, Front of House service

·       Knowledge of issues relating to equal opportunities and cultural diversity

·       Knowledge of and commitment to Safeguarding Children and vulnerable adults’ legislation

·       Relevant knowledge & expertise of the Food & Beverage industry

·       Competent in Microsoft Office applications
