Overview
University Centre Reaseheath is set within beautiful campus grounds in the heart of Cheshire. You will have access to leading edge facilities including a fully licensed zoo, accredited by BIAZA with an aquatics and exotics centre, mammal house and newly-furbished laboratories, a canine training arena and kennels, dissection labs. Our working farm is set within 330 hectares and includes a herd of over 200 dairy cows, 40 breeding ewes, and a robotic milking parlour. We also have an abundance of native wildlife and habitats which are often used by our undergraduates for practical-based study and research projects.
About the role
We are looking to appoint a Lecturer/Course Manager to join our team of Higher Education lecturers and support delivery of our undergraduate programmes. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to our success as we continue to grow and develop our curriculum offer.
Our University Centre Reaseheath offer a range of undergraduate programmes within the animal sciences and conservation biology and our students can study a variety of disciplines including zoo management, animal management, behaviour and welfare, wildlife conservation and ecology and environmental conservation.
Reporting directly to the Programme Leader, the Lecturer/Course Manager will have direct responsibility for supporting the attainment and continuation of a group of students as well as active responsibility for maintaining academic quality and standards and a high-quality student experience.
This post would ideally suit an experienced lecturer or an early career starter as you will be supported in the completion of a relevant teaching qualification.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop new curriculum content consistent with college approved procedures.
- Lead and guide students in a range of scholarly activity which enhances subject-specific learning and the development of employability skills.
- Assess, examine and support students using a variety of methods to maximise learner potential.
- Implement quality assurance processes for one or more higher education programmes.
- Develop links and builds relationships with industry and associated stakeholders.
The successful candidate will:
- Minimum Level 6 qualification in a related discipline.
- Level 2 Maths & English or equivalent.
- Ideally have relevant and up to date industry/professional practice within the sector.
- Evidence of relevant scholarly activity that you can use to enhance the student experience.
- Desire to develop a career in teaching and willingness to work towards an appropriate qualification.
