Are you passionate about shaping and inspiring the workforce of tomorrow? HMP Berwyn are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Personal and Social Development Trainer to deliver engaging, classroom-based lessons aimed at equipping our learners with essential life skills. This role focuses on promoting independence and confidence by teaching money management, independent living as well as cooking and cleaning skills. We have recently added a new bespoke classroom for the delivery of the course, including a brand-new kitchen facility.
We have a great opportunity available to join Novus Cambria, our prison education provider at HMP Prison Berwyn, working as a Vocational Trainer in Personal and Social Development. This role is offered on a permanent full-time basis, working 37 hours per week.

HMP Prison Berwyn is a Category C prison in Wrexham County Borough, Wales. It accommodates a male population. It is the largest prison in the UK, opened in 2017, and is operated by His Majesty’s Prison Service. The prisons aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe at all times. The prison’s mission is to provide a secure, safe, and rehabilitative environment that encourages positive change and prepares inmates for a successful reintegration into society

Skills, Qualifications and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will need to:
- Hold a minimum L3 qualification in relevant subject specific area
- PGCE/Cert Ed
- Hold at least a level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
- Hold appropriate assessor qualification
- To hold or commit to gain an Internal Verifier award within 1 year (dependent upon course accreditation requirements)
- Have experience in the relevant vocational area
- Experience within a similar role
- Experience of working within the appropriate vocational sector
- Experience of working within a prison, further education or training setting
