About the Role
The role of Reception and Data Support Assistant is a busy on-site role supporting the Welcome Desk and Admissions and Information Team in daily administration tasks. You will be the first point of contact for visitors to the college as well as being an important point of contact for students and staff. You will provide a friendly and professional welcome face to face, via email, our online chat service and via telephone. You will answer queries and triage people to the appropriate service when necessary. You will also support the processing and management of applicant data, collaborating with colleagues across departments to ensure a smooth, efficient, and positive experience for prospective students.
We expect the successful candidate to start in the role in the week commencing 6 October 2025.
The post will be 39 weeks per year, usually to be worked from the first week of student enrolment (the 3rd week in August) to the end of staff training week (1st week in July). The working hours are on-site from Monday to Friday, 9:30am to 1:30pm.
About the Person
Experience: You will have extensive experience in a customer service role, ideally including data inputting.
Qualifications: You will hold Level 2 English and Maths at grade C/4 or above, or equivalent. Relevant work experience for those who do not meet this requirement will be considered.
Skills: Strong accuracy skills, particularly when working with large volumes of data/workload to tight deadlines, is essential. You will also be able to prioritise effectively and remain positive and professional in pressured situations.
Attributes: You will be approachable, calm, patient and professional in demeanour, with a passion for customer service and working with others.
About the College
We are a large, regional college serving a population across York and North Yorkshire of more one million people. Each year, we have approximately 4,000 school leavers, 1,000 apprentices, 2,000 adult students, and 400 higher-level students studying with us.
Our wide range of education options span entry level programmes through to degrees, higher technical qualifications, and accredited professional courses to courses for professional development. Our apprenticeships can be studied from level 2 to level 5 across a range of different career pathways. We are the largest provider of A-Level and vocational programmes for school leavers in the region; we offer nearly 35 A-Level subjects and over 80 vocational courses, including a wide range of T-Level pathways.
