Role: Lecturer – Media and Games Design
Location: Tresham College – Kettering Campus
Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £31,930 and £36,878 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 45 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, Teacher’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.
Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year
Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time
About the role:
We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Media and Games Design to join our Performing Arts department at The Bedford College Group.
As a Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
- Teaching & Assessment – Deliver engaging and inclusive Media and Games Design lessons across Levels 2–3 (and potentially 4–5), using a variety of teaching methods and digital tools to meet awarding body standards.
- Student Support & Progress – Guide students through tutorials, monitor progress, assess work, and maintain accurate records to ensure learners achieve their full potential.
- Curriculum & Quality Development – Contribute to curriculum innovation, develop new learning materials, participate in internal verification, and support quality assurance processes.
- Industry Engagement & Promotion – Build vocational links, support work experience opportunities, and participate in marketing activities such as open days, interviews, and careers events.
- Leadership & Compliance – For qualified lecturers, lead course development, mentor new staff, and act as a course tutor while upholding safeguarding, equality, health & safety, and professional development standards.
About you:
- Qualifications & Subject Expertise – Holds a degree or equivalent in Media/Games Design, with GCSEs in English and Maths (A–C), and up-to-date knowledge of industry-standard software, editing, and animation tools.
- Teaching Experience – Demonstrates recent success in planning, delivering, and assessing Media courses at Level 2 and above, with the ability to teach technical skills across a range of learners.
- Technical & Organisational Skills – Strong technical proficiency in media/games design, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines while maintaining high standards of delivery.
- Professionalism & Values – Aligns with college values (Teamwork, Caring, Inclusive, Student Centred, Educational Excellence, Continuous Improvement), and contributes positively to team culture and cross-college collaboration.
- Communication & Safeguarding – Communicates confidently across all platforms, creates a supportive learning environment, and upholds safeguarding, health & safety, and professional boundaries at all times.
