Hours: 37 hours per week during term time for 40 weeks per year

About the role
As a Safeguarding and Wellbeing Officer, you’ll play a vital role in delivering impactful health and wellbeing initiatives across the College. You’ll be a key presence in our Wellbeing Hub, offering day-to-day support through drop-ins and booked appointments. Your work will include delivering engaging tutorials and group sessions on topics such as mental health, healthy relationships, substance misuse, and more. You’ll also take the lead in planning and coordinating college-wide wellbeing events and awareness campaigns, working closely with both internal teams and external partners. 

You’ll be instrumental in developing and maintaining a bank of relevant resources, ensuring our materials reflect current local and national trends. Your role will also involve gathering feedback from students to help shape and improve our services, as well as contributing to the creation of content for the College website. From supporting student inductions to helping evaluate the impact of our services, your work will be varied, meaningful, and student focused. 

Term time only contract:  
This role is term time only, to work over 40 weeks.
The 40 working weeks include the period of student enrolment, which is around the middle of August through to the middle of July, excluding student holidays throughout the academic year.

About the Person
We’re looking for someone with at least two years’ experience in a health and wellbeing or further education setting, who brings excellent communication and organisational skills. A strong understanding of the challenges young people face today, along with a proactive, creative, and resilient approach, will be key to your success in this role. Most importantly, you’ll be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our students and apprentices. 

About the College
We are a large, regional college serving a population across York and North Yorkshire of more one million people. Each year, we have approximately 4,000 school leavers, 1,000 apprentices, 2,000 adult students, and 400 higher-level students studying with us. 

Our wide range of education options span entry level programmes through to degrees, higher technical qualifications, and accredited professional courses to courses for professional development. Our apprenticeships can be studied from level 2 to level 5 across a range of different career pathways. We are the largest provider of A-Level and vocational programmes for school leavers in the region; we offer nearly 35 A-Level subjects and over 80 vocational courses, including a wide range of T-Level pathways.

We are proud to be part of a consortium of colleges and employers developing the Yorkshire and Humber Institute of Technology (IoT), designed to increase higher level technical skills for employers.
