We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Thameside, working as a Learning and Support Worker. This role is offered on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37 hours per week.

Site Information

HMP Thameside is a local category B resettlement prison in the Thamesmead area of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, South-East London and is situated close to HMP Belmarsh. Thameside is London’s only private prison and accommodates a male prison population.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need to:

  • Hold a Hidden Difficulties Level 2 qualification or equivalent (or be willing to work towards within an agreed timeframe)
  • Hold Level 2 qualifications in Literacy and Numeracy (or be willing to work towards within an agreed timeframe)
  • Actively seek to consistently achieve performance targets
  • Be responsible and accountable for accurate and timely reporting
  • Have a prior experience of positive team working within a multi-disciplinary team (desirable)
  • Have experience of conducting assessments and supporting learning of individuals and groups (desirable)
  • Experience of working with groups of learners with a range of abilities (desirable)
