Digital & Creative Industries
Salary: £17,608 to £19,785 per annum (£28,964 to £32,532 full time equivalent)
Contract Type: Permanent Part Time 22.5 hours per week

Reference: REC2164 | Closing Date: Sunday, 13th July 2025

The Opportunity

Based in our Digital & Creative Industries department, you will bring your subject knowledge and enthusiasm for performance into the classroom, where you will help our students grow in confidence and develop the technical and expressive skills needed for success in the performing arts industry.

You will deliver lessons in Dance and Musical Theatre to students on Level 2 and Level 3 Performing Arts programmes, supporting them to explore a range of techniques such as jazz, ballet, contemporary dance, physical theatre and acting through song. You will also lead rehearsals and choreograph work for college productions, showcases and live performance assessments, helping our learners gain valuable experience of performing in a range of settings.

Your role will include curriculum planning and working closely with colleagues on cross-discipline projects that reflect current industry standards. You will play an active part in ensuring our students are supported throughout their journey, using effective feedback and personalised approaches to track progress and address individual learning needs.

You will also offer pastoral guidance and help our students build the confidence and resilience they need to succeed. You will contribute to key events such as open evenings and auditions, supporting the wider goals of the department and the college. Throughout your teaching, you will also ensure that your practice upholds safeguarding, equality, and health and safety expectations. Whether you are new to teaching or bringing industry experience into education, you will receive support to develop your skills through continuous professional development and teacher training where required.

This is a great opportunity to combine your passion for dance and musical theatre with meaningful work that directly impacts the next generation of performers.

About You

You are someone who lives and breathes performance. With a strong background in dance and musical theatre, you bring not only technical expertise across styles like jazz, ballet, contemporary, and physical theatre, but also the energy, commitment and creativity to lead inspiring lessons and dynamic rehearsals.

You are confident in the studio and on stage, with a proven ability to choreograph and direct performances that captivate an audience. Whether you have already been teaching or are ready to step into education from the industry, you are eager to share your passion and experience with learners at Levels 2 and 3, helping them unlock their potential and develop both their craft and confidence.

You understand the value of feedback and individualised support, and you care about your students’ personal growth as much as their professional progress. You are also collaborative by nature – excited to work across disciplines, contribute to curriculum design, and get involved in college-wide events, from open days to auditions.

Above all, you are someone who sees the bigger picture: the power of performing arts to transform lives, and your role in preparing our learners for careers, further study, and a lifelong love of the stage.
