Variable Hours

This role is offered on a Variable Hours contract for services, giving you the flexibility to choose whether to accept work offered to you. We will provide an approximate number of hours you may asked to work, however there is no obligation for work to be offered, and there is no obligation for you to accept the work offered.

The Opportunity

Based in our Foundation Learning department, you will support our learners working at Entry Level and Level 1 to build confidence and reach their potential. Through creative and inclusive teaching, you will help our learners develop essential skills that prepare them for further study, employment or greater independence.

You will teach a range of subjects including English, maths, personal and social development, employability, independent living and vocational tasters, depending on your experience and specialism. You will also deliver basic maths and English up to Level 2, adapting your teaching to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of each student. Your lessons will embed functional skills and promote soft skill development such as communication, teamwork and resilience.

You will track and monitor learner progress closely, setting clear targets and reviewing outcomes regularly. You will provide reports for parents, carers and schools, and work in partnership with Learning Support Assistants and external agencies to ensure students receive consistent and appropriate support. Your teaching will be grounded in a commitment to inclusion, respect and personal development.

About You

Ideally, you are patient, empathetic, and genuinely dedicated to helping our learners progress in their education and personal development. You understand the challenges faced by students working at Entry Level and Level 1 and you know how to create a learning environment where every student feels safe, respected and encouraged to progress at their own pace.

You bring experience of teaching or supporting learners at various levels, and you are confident delivering subjects such as English, maths, personal development and employability. You are skilled at adapting your teaching to suit different learning styles and needs, and you know how to embed functional and soft skills into your lessons in a meaningful way.

You are well organised and capable of tracking learner progress, setting clear targets and maintaining accurate records. You are confident working in partnership with support staff, families and external agencies, and you understand the importance of a team approach when it comes to helping students succeed.

You will have a recognised teaching qualification or be working towards one, and you will be committed to your own professional development. Above all, you care deeply about giving every learner the chance to grow in confidence, achieve their goals and prepare for the next step in their journey.

Below is a list of some of the key skills, qualifications and experience we are seeking for this exciting opportunity.

Required

·         Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject

·         Level 4 teaching qualification (e.g. CTLLS) or willingness to achieve it

·         GCSE (or equivalent) English and maths at grade C/4 or above

·         Experience working with young people

·         Evidence of ongoing CPD
