Role: Safeguarding and Welfare Advisor

Location: Tresham College – Kettering Campus

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £26,780 and £31,415 per annum (Pro-Rata) DOE and Qualifications, People’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week, 40 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent – Term Time

About the role:

We are currently seeking a Safeguarding and Welfare Advisor to join our Student Services department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Safeguarding and Welfare Advisor, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Safeguarding & Wellbeing Support – Provide impartial advice and short-term interventions to students, addressing safeguarding and wellbeing concerns to support retention and success.
  • Case Management & Compliance – Record and monitor cases using CPOMS, manage referrals, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance with safeguarding legislation and college policies.
  • Collaboration & Communication – Work closely with internal teams and external agencies, attend multi-agency meetings, and ensure effective communication with all stakeholders.
  • Awareness & Engagement – Deliver wellbeing events, support staff training, maintain safeguarding visibility across campuses, and ensure accurate information is shared with students and staff.
  • College-Wide Involvement – Participate in enrolment, open days, ID checks, and disciplinary processes, while upholding TBCG values and contributing to continuous improvement.

About you:

  • Communication & Team Collaboration – Confident engaging with students and staff at all levels, with a friendly, outgoing nature and a strong team-oriented approach.
  • Organisation & Administration – Highly organised with excellent planning, time management, and administrative skills, including letter writing and professional telephone communication.
  • Student Support & Welfare – Experienced in student welfare environments, offering effective information, advice, and guidance, with a flexible and supportive attitude.
  • Technical & Academic Skills – Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, and databases, with Level 2 English and Maths and a relevant Level 3 qualification.
  • Professionalism & Development – Maintains excellent attendance and punctuality, with attention to detail and a commitment to continuous improvement, including Youth Mental Health First Aid training.
