Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with social, emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? 

 

We are looking for a committed Youth Worker to join our inclusive and supportive team. You’ll play a vital role in creating a safe and nurturing environment for students with a range of needs, including SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health), communication and interaction difficulties, and other co-occurring challenges. 

 

What you’ll do: 

 

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support, both on and off site 
  • Assist in the delivery of tailored learning packages linked to students’ EHCPs 
  • Support classroom, vocational and outdoor/off-site activities under the direction of teaching staff 
  • Encourage development of English, Maths, and social skills during practical tasks 
  • Use Trauma-Informed strategies to help students feel safe, regulated, and supported 
  • Assist with the recording of progress, behaviour observations, and engagement 
  • Support with off-site trips and contribute to risk assessments as required 
  • Communicate positively with parents, carers, and wider professionals 
  • Cover short- and medium-term teacher absences when needed 

 

Who we’re looking for: 

  • Someone with a calm, empathetic approach who thrives in a flexible working environment 
  • Experience working with young people with SEMH, SEND or similar needs is desirable 
  • A team player who can take initiative but also follow clear guidance and structure 
  • Someone who understands (or is willing to learn) Trauma Informed Practice 
  • Basic first aid training or willingness to undertake training (provided)
