Location: Bedford College – The Bedford Learning Centre

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £23,557 and £25,849 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 27 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, People’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week

Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

About the role:

We are currently seeking a Kings Trust Development Worker to join our Community Learning department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Development Worker, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Recruitment & Engagement – Support the Prince’s Trust Team Leader in recruiting team members and promoting the programme to employers and community organisations.
  • Learning Support & Development – Assist in delivering academic content, identifying basic skills needs, and providing tailored support and tuition to help learners succeed.
  • Work Placement & Progression – Help source and assess work placements for team members, supporting their transition beyond the main programme.
  • Monitoring & Administration – Contribute to individual learning plans, conduct reviews and assessments, maintain accurate records, and attend relevant meetings.
  • Compliance & Professional Growth – Ensure health and safety standards are met, complete risk assessments, and engage in ongoing training and development in line with College policies.

About you:

  • Qualifications & Commitment to Development – Holds GCSE English (or equivalent) and is willing to achieve GCSE Maths; committed to continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Experience & Knowledge – Brings experience in work placements, health and safety, managing challenging behaviour, and a strong understanding of equality and diversity.
  • Core Skills & Teaching Ability – Capable of delivering Basic Skills support, with excellent organisational, time management, and communication skills across various formats.
  • Teamwork & Relationship Building – Works effectively in a team, builds positive relationships, motivates learners, and contributes to a respectful and high-performing environment.
  • Professional Conduct & Safeguarding – Maintains appropriate boundaries, promotes the College’s values and reputation, and is willing to travel across sites while upholding safeguarding and health and safety standards.
