Summary

We are looking for an outstanding individual to join Harris Academy Morden as a Pastoral Faculty Coordinator. 

You will support staff and students promoting a safe environment with excellent levels of behaviour so everyone is entitled to learn, overcoming barriers to learning working with colleagues in the academy and using a wide range of techniques.

Main Areas of Responsibility

Your main areas of responsibility will be:

  • Supporting the consistent implementation of the academy behaviour policy
  • The calm and purposeful movement around the academy between lessons
  • Following through any issues to do with behaviour as required by the academy Leadership Team and on any truancy and attendance concerns
  • Mentoring students on PSPs
  • Operating within the Duty Principal on call rota
  • Managing students who are showing socially unacceptable or challenging behaviour
  • Maintaining standards of behaviour for all faculties and commanding a presence through corridor patrols and lesson drop-ins
  • Monitoring and reporting on attendance, punctuality and behaviour data
  • Meeting weekly with the Attendance Officer to monitor attendance and punctuality
  • Supporting academy colleagues to run the truancy bus
  • Reporting attendance and punctuality concerns at Faculty Meetings
  • Supporting tutors to improve standards of attendance/punctuality
  • Meeting with parents and carers for students that are failing to meet expectations of behaviour, attendance, punctuality or uniform and promoting good home school links
  • Coordinating the timely completion of tutor reports and checking for quality and consistency
  • Meeting with Assistant Principal responsible for SEND to identify students potentially requiring support of EHCP
  • Ensuring all issues that relate to student safety such as allegations of bullying are investigated and passed on
  • Promoting positive values, attitudes and good student behaviour dealing with conflicts and incidents
  • Daily contact with assigned students to support, assist and empower them to meet targets set
  • Advising teachers on different strategies appropriate for students

Qualifications & Experience

We would like to hear from you if you have:

  • Qualifications to A level or equivalent
  • Basic knowledge of SEND and learning barriers
  • Some knowledge of strategies in working with young people with challenging behaviours
  • Knowledge of some of the social issues facing students from disadvantaged backgrounds
  • Awareness of Health and Safety issues in the workplace
  • Experience of working directly with young people in an education or training environment, supporting the learning of students
  • Experience of establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with a range of stakeholders, at all levels
  • Experience of managing and being responsible for own workload
