About the College
We are a large, regional college serving a population across York and North Yorkshire of more one million people. Each year, we have approximately 4,000 school leavers, 1,000 apprentices, 2,000 adult students, and 400 higher-level students studying with us.
Our wide range of education options span entry level programmes through to degrees, higher technical qualifications, and accredited professional courses to courses for professional development. Our apprenticeships can be studied from level 2 to level 5 across a range of different career pathways. We are the largest provider of A-Level and vocational programmes for school leavers in the region; we offer nearly 35 A-Level subjects and over 80 vocational courses, including a wide range of T-Level pathways.

About the role
We’re looking to appoint a highly motivated apprentice with support from the Pears Foundation to work across two colleges in our area.
We are seeking a passionate and organised individual to join York College as a Youth Social Action Apprentice. This is a unique opportunity to support the development and delivery of meaningful, student-led community projects across York College and Askham Bryan College.
At York College, you will work within our dynamic Student Experience and Activities Team, supporting students to develop their leadership, teamwork, and confidence through involvement in volunteering, fundraising, and social impact initiatives. The postholder will help embed social action across curriculum areas, aligning projects with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and the College’s Brilliant Futures Pledge.
At Askham Bryan, you will collaborate with our Student Experience Leaders and Pastoral Tutors to create and deliver initiatives that drive meaningful social impact. You will receive support in developing student-led projects that align with their passions, fostering growth in confidence, teamwork, and communication skills
You will need to be qualified to Level 2 in English and Maths and be passionate about developing young people and creating opportunities in YSA. You will also need excellent communication skills, the ability to develop good working relationships with students and staff across the colleges, and the ability to work in an inclusive way upholding the principles and values of youth work practice.

This role is fixed term for up to 2 years.

• Have a minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above, including English and Maths
• Don’t already have a degree in a similar field
• Are not doing any other full-time course
• Are eligible to work in the UK
• Have an interest in Youth Social Action
• Are ambitious and keen to progress
• Are committed to achieving your qualifications
