We have a fantastic opportunity for a passionate and engaging Lecturer in Secondary Education, specialising in English, to join our Education and & Social Care Department. 

Our fantastic Education Provision have all spent time teaching in schools and are now committed to training the teachers of the future and helping our learners to unlock their full potential.

The successful applicant will plan, assess, and support students towards high achievement – visit schools as a link tutor and observe lessons. The successful candidate will have recent experience working in an educational setting with a real passion for their subject/area and be enthusiastic about all aspects of education.

 

This is a part-time role working 21 hours per week.

 

Interviews are planned to take place on 11th July 2025

 

Responsibilities include:

To teach courses specified by the Departmental Leadership Team.
To participate actively in curriculum development, and where appropriate, in cross-college marketing activities.
To participate actively in the enrolment, induction, monitoring, profiling and initial assessment of students or trainees.
To devise individual learning plans and provide support for learners in line with the requirements of the course.
To be responsible to the Head of Department for student discipline, counselling and guidance for all assigned classes.
To be responsible for the supervision and management of students on placements and off-site visits, and activities where appropriate.
To maintain records of formative and summative assessments of students’ learning, carried out to report accurately on the progress of both individuals and groups.
To proactively contribute to the success and vision of the department
To undertake programme leadership duties as specified by your line manager or the Head of Department
To contribute to course development and keep up to date with any industry or education reforms. To contribute  to the development of new programmes of study demonstrating an inclusive and collaborative approach to delivery
To act as academic and pastoral tutor to assigned students.

Education & Training

Bachelor’s Degree or Level 6 Professional Qualification in a subject relevant to English
A recognised teaching qualification.
GCSE 4-9 (A*- C) or nationally recognised level 2 qualification in Maths and English or equivalent, or prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then, if appointed, achieve within an agreed timescale
 

Experience

Academic or industrial, or commercial experience in an area relevant to the programme.
Ability to utilise Information Technology and Information, Learning and Technology both within learning and for administrative purposes.
Good organisational and administrative skills.
Experience in Good teaching/training.
Experience in student pastoral care and disciplinary procedures
Experience in course leadership responsibilities.
Ability to communicate effectively with people with a range of abilities and motivations.
Ability to work flexibly and effectively as a member of a team.
