Overview

Reaseheath College is one of the UK’s leading land-based and technical colleges based in Nantwich, Cheshire. About the role

We are currently seeking recent graduates who are eager to pursue a career in teaching Science within the Further Education sector. This is a unique opportunity to train as a lecturer within our state-of-the-art facilities, supported by experienced and dedicated staff. The programme enables you to begin your teaching career, develop professionally, and make a real impact on students’ learning journeys.

Successful candidates will be enrolled onto our teacher training programme which will be fully funded by the college. Upon successful completion of the programme, applicants will be guaranteed an interview for any eligible vacancy within the college.

Teaching Overview

As part of the Science course, Graduate Lecturer / Course Managers will teach across:

  • Biology: Plant and Animal Cells, Proteins, Enzymes, Carbohydrates, Lipids, Genetics, Microbiology, Immunology, Cell Cycle, Cellular Respiration  
  • Chemistry: Acid/bases and chemical change, Atomic structure, Rates of reaction and energy changes, Titrations, Formulae and equations
  • Physics: Electricity, Magnetism and electromagnetism, Waves, Radiation, Gas Laws, Pressure/Fluid/Viscosity. 

The successful candidate will have:

  • A relevant Science degree (2:1 or higher)
  • Level 2 or equivalent in Maths and English (GCSE Grade C or above)
  • Level 3 qualification in their subject of teacher training
  • A willingness to work towards a teaching qualification

 

Bursary Eligibility

To be eligible to apply, you must:

  • be eligible to receive student support
  • have a standard equivalent to GCSE grade 4 (C) or above in English and mathematics
  • have at least a level 3 qualification in their subject of teacher training, or relevant professional experience
  • be taking a qualifying pre-service ITE course in England
  • not already have a Diploma in Teaching (Further Education and Skills), Diploma in Education and Training (DET) or equivalent qualification at level 5 or above
  • not have already got a full FE ITE bursary or grant award for a previous FE ITE programme or qualification
  • not get a salary or other payment for any teaching work associated with the FE ITE programme for which they are getting the bursary
  • not be on another ITE course, training scheme or programme, which leads to:
  • a Diploma in Teaching (Further Education and Skills), from September 2024
  • a DET or DET-compliant qualification, for qualifications starting before September 2024
  • not be on an apprenticeship programme

Successful applicants must also follow trainee requirements to seek a teaching post in the FE sector in England on successful completion of their programme.

Please note this role constitutes ‘regulated activity’ as defined by the Protection of Freedom Act 2012. The successful candidate will therefore be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check with barred list information prior to starting employment. You must also have the right to work in the UK and will be required to provide evidence to support this. In addition, online checks will be carried out during the recruitment process. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974.
