About the role:

We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Animal Management to join our Animal Sciences department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Overall Responsibilities – Prepare, deliver, assess, and verify Animal Science courses; provide high-quality learning experiences; contribute to curriculum development and innovative teaching; participate in marketing and promotion activities.
  • Main Duties – Teach effectively across programs, develop and maintain schemes of work, implement new learning materials, assess and record student work, monitor progress, provide progress reports, develop vocational opportunities, conduct workplace visits, stay updated in subject area, implement quality processes, ensure engaging learning environments, manage student behavior, plan and oversee sessions, complete administrative tasks, participate in meetings, take part in marketing activities, interview potential students, contribute to curriculum development, promote safeguarding, carry out additional duties as requested.
  • Additional Duties for Qualified Lecturers – Lead curriculum development, mentor new staff, work with Advanced Practitioners.
  • Statutory Duties – Promote and safeguard welfare, ensure equality and diversity, follow health and safety requirements, participate in training and development.

About you:

  • Qualifications – Degree level qualification in relevant subject or equivalent (e.g., HND), willingness to achieve Certificate in Education or equivalent, GCSE Maths and English (grades A-C) or equivalent, or willingness to achieve Level 2 within one year.
  • Experience – Knowledge of current issues in animal management, sector experience, recent teaching experience, achieving team objectives and deadlines, high performance in previous roles, working with diverse backgrounds, promoting equality and diversity.
  • Skills – Align with College values (Student Focus, High Performance, Respect, Openness, Honesty), positive team contribution, promoting College reputation, effective communication (face-to-face, telephone, writing), high-quality teaching, strong teaching skills, teaching various levels and ages, curriculum development, accurate administrative tasks, working on own initiative, strong interpersonal skills, prioritizing objectives, meeting deadlines.
