Location: Group Wide

Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week

About the role:

We are currently seeking a Head of Estates and Facilities to join our Estates and Facilities department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Head of the department, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Leadership and Management – Provide leadership across the Directorate, represent the department at local and Group levels, and ensure effective team management and high-quality provision.
  • Specialist Area – Lead strategic planning and development of estates and facilities, manage key contracts, ensure compliance, and support continuous improvement.
  • Team Performance – Set standards and targets, provide feedback, handle performance issues, ensure mandatory training, and manage budgets and resources.
  • College Responsibilities – Attend meetings at other campuses, participate in ID checks, invigilation, open days, and other key events.
  • Statutory Duties – Promote safeguarding, equality and diversity, follow health and safety requirements, and engage in training and development.

About you:

  • Qualifications and Experience – Level 7 qualification professional qualification in estates and facilities management or equivalent experience.
  • Skills and Knowledge – In-depth knowledge of the property and facilities sector, health and safety compliance, familiarity with IT systems, and up-to-date with sector developments.
  • Communication and Management – Excellent communication, people management, organizational, prioritization, project management, decision-making, and analytical skills.
  • Professional Conduct – Ability to handle sensitive data, work independently and in teams, build professional relationships, and influence at all levels.
  • Flexibility and Commitment – Adaptable working hours, ability to travel, maintain professional boundaries, and align with The Bedford College Group’s values.
