Head of Langdon College
Job Details
Lead the continuing improvement and delivery of Langdon’s vision and values across post-16 provision, helping to ensure long-term sustainability, improving strategic relationships and offering the best possible opportunities for the Jewish learning disability and autism community to thrive.
Location: Edgeware, London
Salary: c.£65,000 – £80,000 depending on experience
Closing date: Monday 7th April 2025
Langdon College is part of Kisharon Langdon and is a registered charity that empowers adults and children with learning disabilities and autistic people to thrive and reach their potential.
Langdon College is a small residential and day college based in Edgware, London, providing education and support primarily for Jewish students who have a variety of learning difficulties and/or disabilities with almost half of our students diagnosed with autistic spectrum disorder.
Central to Kisharon Langdon’s mission is an unwavering commitment to the interests of people with learning disabilities and autism, as well as their families. We remain dedicated to meeting their unique religious and cultural needs, and we are proud of the inclusive environment we foster. The importance of empowering those we support to realise their ambitions and aspirations remains a core value.
About the role.
This will be an exciting time to join Langdon College with the organisation currently implementing a robust improvement plan as well as having ambitious plans for the future of our estate.
The implementation of our improvement plan follows a disappointing inspection earlier this year (Ofsted, Inadequate, July 2024). Despite this outcome, we were still judged to have behaviour & attitudes and personal development rated as Good. The hard work of our staff is already being witnessed with inspectors reporting that we have made significant progress in their latest monitoring visit (November 2024).
As our Head of Langdon College, you will succeed our current Interim Principal, Dr Carole Nicholson, who has been leading the delivery of our improvement plan, focussing on the quality of our curriculum offer whilst improving our safeguarding practices. You will also lead the College in building new and influential relationships with stakeholders, support the development of our estate and continue to model an organisational culture that ensures our staff, learners and their families continue to feel supported and valued.
As an experienced FE sector leader, you will manage the day-to-day operations of the College whilst using your understanding and knowledge of SEND provision to lead a team of dedicated and passionate staff – curriculum leads, teachers and therapists – to deliver the best possible outcomes for our learners, whilst ensuring that we continue to embed our Jewish ethos across the whole organisation.
You will build on existing collaborative activities, working with leadership colleagues within the Directorate and across the wider Kisharon Langdon organisation, improving engagement with those leading on finance, health & safety and recruitment to form more joined-up and efficient processes. Furthermore, you will work collaboratively with our local governing bodies and our Charity Chief Executive, ensuring that our operations continue to match strategic ambitions and intentions whilst contributing to the financial and budgetary controls of the organisation.
You will bring a track record of developing successful partnerships as we work hard to ensure that Langdon is an outward-facing College that works collaboratively with others from across the sector, with parents and other key stakeholders. Under your leadership, Langdon will seek to embrace opportunities and raise educational standards both internally and across the wider specialist sector.
You will have the freedom and flexibility to use your leadership and management expertise to improve our provision from the foundations we already have in place, using your innovation and creativity to find solutions to the challenges we encounter along the way.
Benefits.
- The working week concludes at lunchtime on Fridays.
- Staff are entitled to additional leave on all Jewish festivals – 7 additional days of leave in 2025.
- Access to health & wellbeing support.
