Job Details

Homefield College is looking to engage a new Vice Principal who will shape and develop a future-proofed and innovative curriculum that will support each and every student to flourish.

Who we are.

Homefield College, founded in 1987, is a registered charity and a community-based independent specialist college that offers education, training, independent living skills, care and support to young people between the ages of 16-25 with learning and communication difficulties. Set in the East Midlands, Homefield College has three campuses across Leicester and one in Nuneaton, Warwickshire.

The college provides specialist education to 180 learners, all with an education health and care plan (EHCP).  All of our learners have learning disabilities and /or difficulties, and we have a particular focus on the autistic spectrum and those with communication difficulties. Our education pathways focus on the outcomes of improving personal care skills, learning how to live independently and finding a place in the world of work. As part of these pathways, we offer social and life skills, vocational training, employability qualifications and therapies, with English, maths and communication embedded into every lesson. We also offer day service provision based in Sileby, providing activities and support 50 weeks a year for adults with learning disabilities and difficulties. Day services help with social inclusion in the local community, transition training, leisure activities and work experience. We ensure that the diverse provision that we offer meets the unique needs of all our learners.

About the role.

The College offers a range of individualised vocational education programmes for each student. All programmes are tailored to the needs of each individual, with the starting point being that they feel safe in their environment and are fulfilling their potential.

As Vice Principal – Innovation & Quality, you will work closely with our Principal, Tracey Forman, and the leadership team, supported by a talented and deeply connected teaching team, to deliver, develop and enhance high-quality and consistent teaching, learning and student experience across our College.

You will need to be bold about the opportunities available to a college like ours and seek every opportunity to deliver the very best for our students and community.

Your focus will be on reviewing and continuously improving the curriculum based on innovation, support and impact, ensuring our students – regardless of what they study or how they learn with us – love their time at the College, progress well and flourish into secure and ambitious people who will go on to bigger, better and brighter things because of what they have achieved, learnt and developed during their time at our College.

Who we are looking for.

You will need to be an expert in your area with a strong track record of delivering high-quality teaching and learning, planning and delivery of innovative curriculum and quality interventions to better develop and maintain the quality of education across a similar-sized organisation.

As an experienced leader of curriculum, you will recognise the circumstances unique to our College, with the ability to adapt your portfolio of experience and achievements to meet the priorities, demands and needs of our College as we continue to work hard towards continuously improving the quality of our offer. You will ensure our curriculum and learning offer meets the needs of learners now and in the future and demonstrate how you will create and communicate a supportive yet performance-led vision that will contribute towards the College-wide strategy and deliver continued positive outcomes.

With an inspiring leadership style and collaborative ethos, you will be capable of building and maintaining strong relationships internally and externally. Your strategic approach rooted in operational knowledge will inspire staff working at all levels to be a part of this transformative journey.

You will be joining a dynamic and collegial group of leaders who share in the positive culture of the College. This provides opportunities to not only share expertise but also learn new techniques from peers whilst driving forward the collective growth and success of the College as a whole. Through these close relationships, we will continue to create improved outcomes for all our students and local communities.

Peridot Partners and Homefield College are, together, committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and our client expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references before any final offer can be made.
