At Barnsley College, we are committed to exceptional teaching and learning, implementing smaller intervention groups for our GCSE Maths and English delivery. The Health Science and Childcare department is now seeking two dedicated and dynamic Achievement Mentors to support students in achieving their goals in Maths and English.
As an Achievement Mentor, you will work with small groups of up to six learners at a time, helping to identify their needs and establish clear targets for success. You will collaborate with them to develop their skills and attitudes, ensuring they make progress toward achieving their qualifications, all while being supported by our Curriculum Teams.
In this vital role, you will play a key part in supporting student achievement, helping them to progress to further education, employment, and promising futures. This position is ideal for a learning professional who is energetic and collaborative, dedicated to maximizing attendance and achievement for all students.

About you

We are looking for a candidate who has the interpersonal skills and experience to effectively support learners. In this role, you will be essential in helping students develop coping strategies and reach their goals.
Can you bring creativity and flexibility to design engaging learning activities? For this position, our new Achievement Mentor will need strong numeracy and literacy skills, along with the ability to meet deadlines.
You should be skilled at quickly building rapport with students, utilising a variety of assessment techniques while carefully tracking attendance and progress.

Required
· GCSE Maths and English (Level 2 or equivalent)
· Experience supporting student success
· Background in education settings
· Skilled in working with diverse learners, 16+
Preferred
· Cert Ed, PGCE, or equivalent teaching qualification
· Small group support/mentoring experience
· Learning material development skills
· Knowledge of varied teaching methods
