CLEANING TUTOR

Location: HMP Erlestoke, Erlestoke House, Erlestoke, Devizes, SN10 5TU
Hours: 20 hours per week, 52 week per year
Flexible Working: We welcome applications from those seeking flexible hours
Salary: Approx. £18,600 (FTE £35,000) (Subject to experience)
Apprenticeships: Development opportunities are available through Apprenticeship standards
Reporting To: Education Manager

The vocational courses available at our prison sites offer learners the opportunity to gain practical skills and qualifications they can use both upon release and whilst in custody. MK College Group are the education provider for HMP Erlestoke, and as part of the curriculum we offer a CIWM accredited cleaning course to our prison-based learners.

We are seeking an individual with excellent industry experience and knowledge and a can-do approach to education. As a Cleaning Tutor, you will deliver engaging cleaning classes diverse groups of learners and be part of a committed education team all working to achieve high learner success.

As a valued member within our MK College Group Prison Education Team, you will help to develop a strong vocational programme that meets the needs of the learners, prison, and Milton Keynes College.

You will be an inspirational and innovative lecturer, who can thrive upon working within a challenging yet rewarding environment, you will have the ability to offer skills & knowledge to our learners and guide them throughout their courses.

We are flexible for the right candidate, this can be worked over 5 mornings, 2.5 full days or perhaps even a blend of AM and PM sessions.

ABOUT HMP ERLESTOKE

HMP Erlestoke is a Category C prison, holding approximately 444 adult male sentenced offenders. The prison is built on the former grounds of Erlestoke Manor House and has expanded in both offender numbers and intervention programmes. HMP Erlestoke’s focus is firmly fixed on reducing reoffending and preventing future victims of crime by preparing offenders for their release through accredited intervention programmes, skill and vocational based training and education, in a pro social environment.

Courses at HMP Erlestoke include Maths, English, IT, Horticulture, Carpentry, Cleaning and Support Services, Hospitality, Creative Craft, Customer Service, Team Leading, Learning Support and much more.

The education delivery hours are Monday to Thursday 8.30am – 11.30am, 2.00pm – 4.30pm and on Fridays 8.30am – 11.30am.

Erlestoke staff and learners get involved with various projects each year. In 24/25 Erlestoke held an archaeological dig and a two week Arts festival “ Penned Up “ giving learners the opportunity to hear from authors refreshing attitudes ,thinking and developing a focus on reading.

Erlestoke issues an internal magazine highlighting various events, projects and support alongside articles, interviews and shared experiences as well as promoting well-being and education.
