At Bedford College, we are currently recruiting for a Lecturer (Teacher) to deliver our initial teacher training programme based at our main Bedford College campus in the heart of Bedford.

Lecturers within our Teacher Education department at Bedford College play a key role in the success of our students and the future of teaching, through:

  • The design and delivery of lessons, which model modern, creative and innovative teaching practices
  • The management and assessment of students learning, providing support, guidance and encouragement to students to achieve their maximum potential
  • Actively contributing to the growth of and development of our initial teacher training programmes

Ideal candidates will have significant experience of teaching, particularly within Further Education, with a demonstrable passion for teacher development. Experience of teaching PGCE previously is advantageous but not essential.

Candidates must have, and maintain, an awareness of Government policy for initial teacher training, alongside holding the following essential qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree
  • Recognised Level-5 Teacher Qualification (PGCE, CertEd, QTS)

Candidates must also hold a full driving license which allows them to drive in the United Kingdom with access to their own vehicle.Travel across the South Midlands and East of England will be essential to carry out student observations.

Bedford College has a number of sites across the town and surrounding areas, these include our main Cauldwell Street campus in the heart of the town, our hair and beauty salon on the High Street, the advanced automotive centre on Brunel Road and the gas and technology plumbing centre in Kempston.

The Bedford College Group was formed in 2017 following the merger of Bedford College and Tresham College and is now the largest provider of education in the South East Midlands, with over 15,000 students passing through our doors each year.
