Full time (35 hrs/wk), fixed term maternity cover for up to 12 months
Based central Reading, Berkshire (remote during pandemic)
Salary £25,000 to £30,000 FTE pa plus benefits
Are you keen to help deliver student success and make sure our learners have a great experience? If so, we want to hear from you!
University College of Estate Management (UCEM) is long-standing and leading provider of supported online education. We exist to provide accessible, relevant and cost-effective education which enhances careers, increases professionalism and leads to a better Built Environment; we are also very passionate about sustainability. Operating from the UK and Hong Kong we have a global reach, and at any one time over 3,500 students are studying online with us.
This is an exciting opportunity to join UCEM to help cover a period of maternity leave in a role that is core to enhancing our student experience and delivering student success. The main purpose of your role will be to facilitate student learning in the Built Environment discipline areas, working as part of our Learning and Teaching Enhancement team, and with colleagues in all areas of UCEM. You will:
- Support the faculty academic programmes and teaching modules by providing reactive, first-line responses to student communication within our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE);
- Respond to students and signpost them as appropriate, within specified time limits to meet student expectations and deliver a great student experience;
- Proactively communicate with students to encourage engagement with learning, and work collaboratively with other UCEM teams to identify appropriate learning strategies and solutions for students;
- Contribute to online student engagement in modules and programmes of study, with the aim of maximising progression and completion rates, whilst fostering a ‘community feel’ to the studies of our learners.
Educated to first degree-level, you must be able to demonstrate experience of working with students to support them in reaching their full potential. You will understand the education environment and have some experience of working within a VLE; this means your IT/digital skills are of a high level and you can communicate effectively online. In addition, you must be organised, flexible and highly focussed on student success. A teaching qualification/HEA fellowship (or equivalent) is desirable but not essential for this role.
At UCEM we expect employees to demonstrate our values: Passion, Integrity, Excellence and Support. Student satisfaction and success are our main drivers and our people consistently report high levels of employee satisfaction; your contribution will be valued, should you join us.
